Greencable collected material in full bins

Multi-Core Cable

Unstripped Cable with multiple Copper cores commonly used for electrical or data applications.  This is what we collect and recycle the most.

Single Core Cable

Unstripped electrical cable with a PVC covering and single Copper core – we pay a higher price for this compared to multi-core and low grade cable types, as long as it is separated.

Low Grade Cable

Unstripped, armoured electrical cable with a heavy duty protection also known as SWA – this is the lowest grade of cable type that we buy and recycle.

Bare Bright Copper

Obtained from stripping electrical cable, this is the most valuable type of Copper that we purchase from customers.

Copper Tube

We classify this by three different types; Clean, Dirty and Heavy – depending on the likes of paint and solder upon it.

Copper Tanks

Also known as Copper Cylinders, accepted with or without insulation on them.

Braziery Copper

Copper Tube that has already been soldered, tinned or painted as well as containing some Brass attached to it.

Lead

From pipes to sheets, we accept all clean forms of Lead – despite its weight!

Aluminium

This is graded in several different ways so we would have to inspect it prior to advising a price.

Mixed Brass

Taps and fixings are what we typically collect, but any brass objects are accepted by us.

Lead Acid Batteries

From huge ones to tiny ones, we accept any form of this battery type. If you aren’t sure what type of battery you have – get in touch.

Electric Motors

This includes starter motors and alternators so let us know what you have and we’ll let you know an accurate price.

Commonly Asked Questions

Q) I have a material type that isn’t listed here, will Greencable buy it?
A) Quite possibly! Just drop us a message with what it is and how much you have/typically accumulate and we’ll gladly advise.

Q) I’m not sure what material type I have, how do I identify it?
A) No problem. Please email some photos of the material to hello@greencable.com, plus advise the volume you have, and we’ll do our best to identify what it is. With the likes of cable, please provide close-up images of the internals.

Q) I accumulate multiple material types, do I need to separate them before Greencable collects?
A) Most customers typically generate several different types of non-ferrous scrap. Where possible, we kindly ask that material is separated in some way to help our team identify and weigh it as quickly and accurately as possible. This can include leaving the likes of large, bulky material next to the bin (e.g. Armoured Cable, Lead etc.), or using other containers (e.g. bags, boxes etc.) to store specific material. If you require an additional Greencable bin, just let us know.

Q) What is the minimum or maximum volume of material Greencable accepts?
A) At the point of carrying out a collection, the minimum volume we accept is a full 240L Greencable wheelie bin of material. If the bin is not full, we will collect the material however a strike will be issued and a request made to ensure it is full for the next collection that is carried out.
If you have notably more than a Greencable bin full of material to collect then we kindly ask you to notify us of this when scheduling a collection in order to guarantee that we will be able to collect it all on the same day.

There is no maximum volume of material that Greencable accepts as we have a variety of container solutions and vehicles to handle any volume of scrap metal and waste cable.

Q) I would rather have a large collection of my material carried out less often, is this possible?
A) Absolutely! We serve many customers who don’t actually use our wheelie bins and instead have their own storage solutions that work better for them and we collect from them periodically – which is convenient for everyone.

Q) What are the prices that you pay for each material type?
A) Our prices are updated daily to ensure they are competitive and in line with the LME. Please get in touch or email us at hello@greencable.com to find out the latest prices.
